About Waitlist Watch
Getting your child into swimming lessons, Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows or Brownies in the North East can feel like a lottery. Some council pools email everyone at once and the fastest reply gets the place. Some Scout groups have more than 100 children waiting, and gym clubs ask you to join a list and hope.
Waitlist Watch is a free guide to kids' activities in the North East: swimming lessons, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, Girlguiding (Rainbows, Brownies and Guides) and gymnastics. It puts everything in one place: who has places, who's full, what it costs, and how long other parents actually waited. It covers Newcastle, Gateshead, North and South Tyneside, Sunderland, Northumberland and County Durham.
Where the information comes from
- Providers' own websites: every price and status links to the page we got it from, with the date we checked.
- Parents: wait times reported through our form, checked before they're published.
- Providers themselves: clubs and swim schools can update their listing for free.
Is it free?
Yes, for parents, always. We may show clearly labelled featured listings from local swim schools and clubs, plus a few affiliate links (for example swimwear). That keeps the site running.
For businesses
Run a swim school, club or group? Get listed, update your details, or ask about featured listings. Listing is free.

Most waits for volunteer-run groups are down to a shortage of leaders. If you can spare an hour a week, many Scout and Guide groups will move your child up their list.
